Kubota's Manufacturing Presence in America

Kubota Manufacturing of America Corporation, or "Kubota America," operates out of Gainesville, Georgia, where it serves as the primary base for Kubota's North American operations. Initially focused on producing tractor attachments like loaders and backhoes, the company has expanded its offerings to include lawn tractors, subcompact tractors, garden tractors, and rough terrain vehicles (RTVs).

Tractors meant for the North American market are manufactured at the Kubota Industrial Equipment Corporation facility in Jefferson, Georgia. While some machinery is imported from Japan in an unassembled state for final assembly in Georgia, the majority of production now takes place stateside. Currently, Kubota America employs over 2,300 individuals dedicated to the manufacturing of these tractors.

The following is a list of key tractors and machinery produced in Georgia:

  • Subcompact tractors
  • Front end loaders
  • Lawn tractors (T-Series)
  • Turf models such as TG, G, ZD, ZG, and GR
  • Backhoes
  • Utility vehicles (RTVs)

A significant number of Kubota tractors produced in the U.S. are exported to various regions including Canada, Europe, Australia, Africa, Asia, and even Japan. Milestones include the production of the one-millionth Kubota tractor in the U.S., with an annual output exceeding 100,000 units from the Georgia facility.

Kubota has solidified its commitment to North American manufacturing with plans announced in to invest $85 million into a 300-acre expansion of its Gainesville facility. This step signifies Kubota's confidence level in its American operations.

Where Are Kubota Engines Manufactured?

Kubota's tractor engines are produced at Kubota Engine America, which is based in Lincolnshire, Illinois. The U.S. Engine Division, which was established in Elk Grove Village, Illinois, has made significant strides since its inception. By the year, the facility had successfully assembled its 100,000th engine, followed by the 200,000th engine six years later.

Kubota Engine America manufactures industrial engines, general drive engines, and generators. The U.S. factory specializes in delivering tractor diesel engines with power ratings up to 300 horsepower, enhancing its reputation for reliability and superior design.

Kubota's International Operations

Kubota has been manufacturing tractors in Japan since it began producing agricultural equipment. Over the years, it has broadened its operational landscape worldwide, including tractor production in China tailored for the local market through its subsidiary, Kubota Agricultural Machinery (SUZHOU) Co., Ltd.

Are Kubota and KIOTI Related?

Kubota and KIOTI operate independently and are not currently affiliated. Historical partnerships existed, with Kubota collaborating with KIOTI's parent company, Daedong, to create a singular tractor model, a relationship that is now defunct. Both brands compete directly in the compact tractor and compact construction equipment markets, with Kubota maintaining a more extensive dealer network in North America than KIOTI.

A notable legal case arose when Kubota filed a trademark infringement lawsuit against Daedong in California due to similarities in color and design used by KIOTI. After five years of litigation, the companies arrived at an undisclosed settlement in August, allowing both brands to continue employing similar design aesthetics.
