BEW serpentine belt - ribs on both side? - TDIClub Forums

Hey everybody, on my ALH engine the serpentine/accessory belt has ribs on one side and is smooth on the other.

I have to change the belt on our 04 TDI, which I did over a year ago and it started cracking. I got a new belt (contitech brand) from autopartsway.ca for a jetta tdi but it has ribs on only one side.

When I look at the following thread:

It looks as if the belt needs to have ribs on both sides:
