Have I been asleep at the wheel? I figured this would be up a while back and may well have missed it. If so, apologies

Thanks alot for sharing!

Truck capacity classes are in short ton usually. So this is actually a 500 ton truck (496 sht / 450 metric tons).

To me it looks like a mixture of a Payhauler and a Terex Titan.

Here´s the link to the BelAZ product page:
http://www.belaztrucks.com/belaz-announces-450mt-truck/

Very different from anything else out there:
- four wheels in the front
- two 16V engines
- a flat dump box floor

Will be interesting to see if they can sell some units. From what I know their 360 ton truck hasn´t sold often. Reliabilitywise I don´t konw how they are. Maybe the real mining-guys know a bit more here.

I like the older altered Euclid look to these machines.

Thanks for the link as I hadn't seen the video. I wouldn't immediately write this design off as the "Payhauler" was produced for decades with no real major changes. I don't think anyone could argue succesfully that this wasn't inspired by that unit?

What I'm most curious about is the steering system. The last truck I'm aware of that used center-pin steering was the Dart 600 from the '60s. Does the system operate only in opposed mode, or can you center and lock the rear into place? Is crabbing possible?

If this thing works in a real mine, I'm sure they will promote the hell out of it! Rank: Advanced Member

hello you are always writtng about the payhauler truck but that is not really correct. in the 90th last century belaz has made an articulated dump truck with the same design four front and rear whells. the body was different and the design also not very nice. this truck was in his time the biggest with 280ton and the others have had 218ton. from that belaz the have made a prototype and i think a hand full . one more thing do not forget this company is the biggest dump truck producer in the world. the have sold more trucks than each other.

The general limitation on haulers has always been tires. It looks like this relies just on more tires rather than larger ones to achieve this size. That's certainly something the other manufacturers could have done, but did not which suggests that the basic economies of this configuration are not competitive. This looks like a white elephant, but we'll see. Rank: Advanced Member

I understand your point; but you can't compare a rigid frame truck to an articulated design! Although this has an unconventional steering system and is not mechanical drive, the overall design is very Payhauler like.

I'm glad you brought their big articulated designs up. I remember seeing the scale models at the trade shows back in the '90s and made it a point to ask about these machines at MINExpo . Just so everybody knows what Klaus is referring to, here is a photo of the scale models of the design studies.

I was told by several Belaz staff including Mr. Egerov that these were never produced, not even as prototypes. I would love to see photos or video that disprove their claim. I can see the design similarities in the white model with the Euclid RX/R-105.

hello

i know the difference between both systems but this design is not economical.

people from russian companies are very rare with coments of there prototypes and machines. the people do not like to tell you something but if the think you should get some info you have to answer many different questions. this is my opinion after visiting some sites there

Here's a short video depicting the giant, it does show a few seconds of the truck while driving. Minus the Russian fellow speaking.

Hi all, this is a very I the resting design, heralding back to the old PayHauler configuration, but has a capacity of 450 tons. As the link above isn't working on my iPad, and this truck hasn't received any attention in awhile, I figured this link might be of interest.
